Lucilla Webb (Jones)

  Lucilla Webb Jones, daughter of the late John Rush Webb and Louise Richardson Webb, was born December 14, 1950.

At a young age, she joined the Mount Pleasant Baptist Church, taught Sunday school, sang in the choir, and always participated in other activities. Her formal education began at BF Yancey Elementary School in Esmont and graduated from Albemarle High School in 1969. She also attended Commonwealth University in Richmond.

She began her career at the University of Virginia as an member of the Romance Language Department. She married William Jones II "Billy" on August 1979 in Charlottesville and moved to Harrisburg, Pennsyvlania. She joined the Covenant Community Church and worked for 32 years as a account specialist. The last job she held was a secretary for Aleyanda Construction Company.

Lucilla was an avid reader. She volunteered for the Food Bank and spent as much time with her grandchildren, Adran and Gabella as she could. On Wednesday, May 29, 2013, she departed this life in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.

She is survived by her daughter, Tanomi; grandchildren; and other family members and friends.

A memorial service will be held 12 p.m. Saturday, June 15, 2013, at Mount Pleasant Baptist Church in Keene, Virginia, with the Reverend Gene Woodson, Pastor, officiating.
